Exciting News!

A beautiful rainbow above my house!

I am very excited to announce that I was featured on someone's blog! DesignsbyOne featured me on their blog today! I really appreciate being featured. I have never been featured before. But the blog post talks about me and my etsy shop! You can view the article here.

I have been so busy lately. Last week my boyfriend was in town, which explains why I haven't posted or added new items to my shop. My whole routine was thrown off, but for a good reason. We were busy doing all kinds of stuff last week and we celebrated his golden birthday. As part of his golden birthday present, I bought him a star in the constellation of Draco (the dragon).

We went to a Greek restaurant one night, and the server did some really awesome fire tricks!

One of Michael's many birthday deserts. This one was by far the largest, I think.

SOCKS!!

So yesterday I finished my first pair of socks!

I wore them all day today, they are just in time for St. Patrick's Day, too! I am now starting to knit a pattern from ysolda.com, it's called Stuffies. I think they are the cutest little guys. I have some leftover black yarn and I am knitting the bunny. Hopefully I will be able to finish it for Easter, but if I don't finish it, it's not a big deal. I don't have anyone in specific to give it to, maybe put it for sale in my etsy. Keep checking my shop for more and my blog too. Time to finish my laundry, woo hoo!

Antique Photos

I was thumbing through some of my grandparents vintage photos, and I came arcoss some really great ones! I went to a jewelry class on Saturday and I made some really nice soldered photo pendants. I will post photos of the finished necklaces later on.

Just a nice slice of history!!

I am also excited because I added two new invitation designs! Check it out here.

Too bad, so sad.

I was uploading more photos to my flickr account, when I received a horrific message:

"You've run into one of the limits of a free account. Your free account will only display the most recent 200 photos you've uploaded. All of your photos beyond 200 will remain hidden from view until you either delete newer photos, or upgrade to a Pro account.

None of your photos have been deleted, and if you upgrade, they'll all come back unharmed."

What is this all about?? I had no idea that I only had a 200 photo limit! This is so sad. Since I use flickr mostly to store my important etsy images, and others to save my computer some space, it seems like they are giving me no other choice! Has anyone else run into this problem?

Sneak Preview!!

I just started my own Newsletters!! It is so exciting because it is a new way to receive information about my shop!! If you are interested in receiving my newsletter, I have added a mailing list sign up box on the right side bar of my blog!! Check it out!

I left my knitting bag at work! :-( I will not be able to knit my socks tonight (tear). I will read from my latest book, Atonement. It's really good so far.

Now for the preview of what I finished this weekend. See it here first before it goes in my shop!

Mucho Inspiracion

I stopped by Border's last night to thumb through some great books. I stumbled upon one book that was so inspirational and fun. It's called "The Big Ass Book of Crafts" by Mark Montano. He really had some wonderful ideas! So I bought it and I am going to look through the whole book and get inspired!! Keep checking back to my esty shop because I have some wonderful new things in the works!

As for my socks, they are coming a long quite nicely I think. Slowly but surely, I will have a little friend to put on my right foot. (My left foot is warm, but my right foot is still cold!)

ICE Day

So today was a very icy situation. Upon hearing the news at 12:30 at work, our office closed and I headed for the parking lot to attempt to scrape the sheet of ice off my car. I really wished that I had socks on because with every step I took across the parking lot, shards of ice squished into my shoes. I finally got the majority of ice off of my car, when I received a phone call from dad on my cell phone. He insisted that he was going to pick me up from work, so I wouldn't have to worry about slipping and sliding over the roads. He has a huge 4x4 SUV so driving on a day like this would be like a walk in the park. So I sat and waited for him and started knitting. I finally completed my first sock ever!! Now it needs a friend, so I started on the other sock for my right foot. I was really glad that my dad drove me home, I heard people sliding through intersections and all sorts of madness. I was thinking to myself on the way home as we passed through our neighborhood, that today is not a fun day for kids to go home early from school because it's not at all snowy and fun, its icy and icky - its an ICE Day instead of a Snow day. Now that I am knitting a pair of socks, I will be able to brave the next ice storm.

I have gotten into a recent obsession with creating these fun earrings. I find whatever image I want and then its on my ears! :-) You can find these and others at
my boutique.

As for my knitting, I promise I will get some photos up for those socks of mine! I am so excited because I have now reached the toe of my sock with plenty of yarn to spare!! YAy!

Good night!

I'm Back!

So I have a busy little bee lately - I finally opened my Etsy shop! I am so excited. The link is http://www.gidu.etsy.com. Tonight I have been working on some new ideas. And I made a really cute handbag/clutch/wristlet/coin purse/cosmetic bag thing! :-) It can be put to any use. It's a nice dainty size at about 8 inches tall (including handles) and about 7 inches wide.

As for my knitting adventures, I am attempting a sock, and I am must say I am quite proud of myself. I will add photos of them next time! Good night!

latest project..

I am almost done with the first slipper! I only have a few more rows to complete and then I will start on the second slipper. The yarn is made in Germany and is a white and gray mix. It is scrap yarn that I had left over from a knit skirt I made earlier in the year. I am ready to get some new yarn. I hope my mommy loves her new slippers!!

Michael is leaving soon to go back to school. He is moving to Wyoming, where the weather gets pretty chilly. I think I am going to make him a snow hat or scarf or something. Maybe a cozy blanket. We'll see. I am also going to make him a Calendar of really cute photos of me for each month!

Bridal and Birthday Knitting

So I finished knitting my best friend Tara's wedding garter and gave it to her on Saturday night at her Bachelorette Party. I am going to knit some comfy slippers for my mom for her birthday, which is August 28th. The 29th is my parents 26th wedding anniversary. So I am going to get them some new dinnerware for the kitchen.

Long time no Blog, new JOB!!

I just started my new job last week! I love it and told everyone about my knitting group. There is another girl in the office who also knits so I have a feeling we'll be exchanging knitting tips and ideas! Since its starting to get warmer I don't want to make warm stuff so I started knitting a purse! It's still in the beginnings though. I don't have to work at my second job tonight so I think I'll have laundry night and knitting!!!

New website!!

My new website is finally finished! After weeks of long hard work, its up and running!

I have sort of neglected my knitting because of it though so I am going to get back into the game! Tomorrow I am starting an Internship! I decided to take a month long unpaid internship while I am still job searching and going on interviews. I think that getting some more experience under my belt is a good idea. They are pretty flexible with hours so I can still going on interviews and such.

Long time, no blog

Sorry its been so long, I have been job hunting, going on interviews, and working on my professional graphic design website. I have been attending Stitch 'n Bitch every Tuesday night and things are starting to pick up. More people are starting to get interested. I am slacking a little due to working more at the restaraunt and job hunting for my Big Girl Job. Hopefully soon I will land a job and then things will be back in order. I am still working on the beret and also started a scarf for my boyfriend's sister. We went to Chicago last weekend and I only had time to knit on the way up there in the car and on the way back. I will try to post more photos.

Knitters RULE

So last night a newcomer came to Stitch n Bitch, Katie, and she never knew how to knit and at the end of the night she was on her way to a beautiful scarf!! I am so excited for her. The group has decided to try to make it to yarn heaven (Meyer's House), its THE BEST place to get yarn around here. Next week we are meeting at Rebecca's house and her mom is a knitting pro, so we can have the chance to get some nice techniques from her. I can't wait. So now my most recent project is a really cute beret and I will start a cute scarf for Mikey's sister. We are going up to Chicago this weekend and I wanted to bring her a little something. I have the perfect yarn for her.

Job hunting is so stressful! I actually talked to a person yesterday, which is nice, instead of talking to someone's voicemail! We'll see what happens.
